Follmann presents three selected motifs of its 2020 wallpaper calendar, which is dedicated to technical innovations in wallpaper design

Be it colours, shapes, patterns or special effects – every year the wallpaper calendar of the ‘Wallpaper competence’ network shows that there are almost no limits when it comes to wallpaper design. The wallpaper calendar for the coming year is themed ‘Technical Evolution’ and presents technical innovations in the design and printing of wallpapers. As one of the five network members, Follmann will be unveiling selected motifs at Heimtextil 2020, prior to the official release of the calendar.

For its 2020 wallpaper calendar, the ‘Wallpaper competence’ network, consisting of the companies Follmann, Kämmerer, M-Design Edgar Meyer, Sügravo and SPGPrints, has once again picked up a focus topic. Under the theme ‘Technical Evolution’, the companies involved show technical innovations in wallpaper design that are made possible by their products and different printing techniques. The printing techniques deployed were mostly analogue, with digital printing used for selected motifs. This time, water-based structure coatings were digitally printed. As in the 2019 calendar edition, graphic patterns that are still in vogue were taken up for the design.

Follmann is presenting three selected motifs ahead of the official calendar launch:

To coat the ‘Colourful Rhombus’ motif, two digitally printable, aqueous coatings were applied. It is an aqueous structural ink and an embossable foam made by Follmann. Via the 3D coating, a grid pattern was printed and subsequently embossed. Finally, the motif was created through digital printing. Both aqueous coatings can be printed with commercially available ink systems.

The ‘Modern network’ motif is designed in the colours anthracite and gold. While a soft-touch foam was used for the anthracite surface, creating an optical matt effect, the gold shade was produced by coarse pearlescent effects.

The ‘Art Nouveau’ motif has been printed with a special stencil that allows printed dots to appear like pearls on a pearl necklace. This ‘new technology’ can be used to create super-fine contours with fitted dots. The special sparkle effect was achieved with a pigmented high-gloss finish.

The complete wallpaper calendar will be presented at Heimtextil in Frankfurt at the joint stand of Follmann, Kämmerer and SPGPrints (D30 in Hall 3.1).
